With 2020 being a particularly tough year for people with lung conditions, at the start of the new year the team at Ashleigh & Burwood decided they wanted to take positive steps to make a difference that would help this vulnerable group at this time. 

So, a squad of twelve from the Surrey based Home Fragrance company agreed to take on the Everest Base Camp Trek this month, in support of Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation charities.  #OurEverest challenge asks participants to each walk 130km throughout  January. 

The challenge is of course being undertaken completely remotely, so participants are walking alone (or with those they live with) and they have switched the rocky terrain of the Himalayas for the pavements, footpaths, parks and fields of Surrey. But there are no complaints from the team.

PR Manager, Deborah Bettinson said “It has been a wonderful opportunity to re-engage with our beautiful natural surroundings – we are very lucky indeed!  Come rain, shine (or even snow -almost an authentic experience!) we’ve been out walking every day and are getting really close to our target”.  There are just a few days of the challenge remaining – if you like to support this worthy cause you can do so here Our Everest – Ashleigh and Burwood (auk-blf.org.uk)
