Calling all small businesses! Applications for The Small Awards 2024 close at midnight on February 29so get planning and don’t miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to shine the spotlight on your small business and become a part of our dedicated small business community.

Launched in 2017, The Small Awards targets the whole small business sector. The competition is organised by Small Business Britain, which runs a number of national campaigns for small businesses, including Small Business Saturday

The categories are:

High Street Hero – Best high street business 

Exclusively Show 2024

Bricks and Clicks Award – Best multi-channel small business 

Legacy Award – Best family business 

Supply Chain Champion – Best B2B business 

New Kid On The Block – Best business start-up (less than 18 months) 

Digital Star – Best digital only business 

Heart Of Gold – The business that contributes most to their community 

At Your Service – Best small service business 

Sole to Sole – Sole trader award 

Mission Possible – Social enterprise business, CIC, not for profits or charity 

Net Hero – The business that demonstrates exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability 

One category – winning small business will also be crowned the winner of the ‘Small Business Of The Year’ award.

Small businesses are invited to apply at https://thesmallawards.uk/apply and entering is completely free. Judging will be done based on a number of criteria relevant to the specific award, whilst also looking for strong performance as an ongoing business. The judges will be looking for evidence of strong community engagement from small businesses.The awards ceremony will take place on May 16 with small businesses, experts and luminaries from all industries across the UK celebrating all things small business.

Online gift marketplace Gifts Instead of Flowers was the winner of the ‘New Kid on the Block’ category of The Small Awards UK 2023 for the best business start-up (less than 18 months). 

Co-founder Jan Jenkins said: “We were thrilled and honoured to receive the ‘New Kid on the Block’ award at the start of our journey. This award was a recognition of  our hard work and dedication, as well as a great opportunity to showcase our achievements to a wider audience. 

“The Small Awards ceremony was an amazing evening, with a stunning venue, champagne, entertainment, and of course, the awards themselves – Sue Perkins was a brilliant host!”
