The English Ladies Co brand was born out of a long-standing passion of founders Malini (Mal) Pashley and Wayne Nutbeen for creating high-quality bone china figurines, tea sets and giftware for all occasions. Its owner, Camal Enterprises Limited, is now scaling back its operations.
In an Instagram post, owners Mal and Wayne told their Collectors Club customers: “After 15 wonderful years, we wanted to share some heartfelt news with you and our cherished community. The past few years have brought challenges that many businesses have felt, particularly in the wake of the pandemic and global economic turmoil. With one of our directors now choosing to enjoy a well-earned retirement, we’ve made the decision to wind down The English Ladies Co later this year.
“This is not an easy goodbye. Every figure, every design, and every collection we’ve brought to life has been inspired by our deep passion – and by you. Knowing that our creations have found a place in your homes and hearts has been the greatest reward.
“Over the coming weeks and months, we’ll gradually be scaling back our operations. As a valued member of our Collectors Club, you’ll be the first to hear about important updates, special offers, and final releases.
“We are tremendously proud of our beautiful collections and wonderful achievements. Thank you for being part of our story – and for letting us be part of yours.”
Mal told Gifts Today: “We have a few people heading towards retirement and my mum has been poorly, so it seemed a good time to stop for a breath. We’ve had some lovely comments from retailers and collectors alike, so we are bowing out knowing that our elegant, timeless classic pieces will grace people’s homes for years to come. For now, we will be clearing the remaining inventory while we figure out the next steps.”
