After months of careful preparation, Enesco welcomed award-winning artist Jim Shore to Europe this month for a signing-event tour from September 10 to September 24. Excitement among Jim Shore enthusiasts had been building, expectations were high, and – as in previous visits – his loyal fans were not disappointed.
Enesco, Jim’s team, and six hosting retailers spent weeks communicating and engaging with fans through social media, websites, mailings and in-store advertising. Each event was an opportunity to introduce and showcase Jim – the artist behind much-loved brands including his very own Heartwood Creek and recognised collaborations such as Disney Traditions, Peanuts, The Grinch and Harry Potter.
Armed with his all-important signing Sharpie, Jim was welcomed by Clinton Cards at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, which hosted the UK signing event on September 20. Fans travelled from all over the UK and queued patiently to meet Jim and spend precious minutes with him, where they enjoyed his undivided attention. Jim charmed and delighted the crowd while treating everyone with the respect and attention he strongly believes they deserve.
Other signing events took place in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Disneyland Paris.
Enesco senior marketing manager Aylish Ellwood said: “It was a busy 14 days, but Jim was determined to meet as many fans as possible. The hosting retailers did a wonderful job of organising a full-day Jim Shore experience for their loyal customers, many of whom had travelled for hours. Activities included quizzes, Disney sing-alongs, treasure hunts, and character cut-outs for photo opportunities. The retailers were rewarded, as all signing events reported record sales on the day and formed stronger bonds with their customers.
“Throughout the tour, what became very clear was the power of wonderful, compelling storytelling. The partnership between Enesco and Jim Shore is not just about creating beautiful figurines – it’s so much more than that. The figurines are a form of escapism for many, bringing pleasure to the lives and homes of Jim’s fans all over the UK and Europe. There was much laughter and many tears – happy ones – as stories and special moments were shared. Friendships were formed, and online communities continue to grow, as they all have one thing in common: a love of Jim Shore and his artwork through figurines.
“Enesco is proud to be working with Jim Shore and his team, and of course, to be bringing joy every day!”
