Gibsons Games has announced the successful launch of two new feline-themed games, Take Cat and Categories, which debuted to enthusiastic crowds at UK Games Expo (UKGE).
Both titles delighted attendees with their accessible gameplay, charming artwork, and playful cat-inspired twists. Designed to appeal to families, casual gamers, and word game enthusiasts alike, the two games proved to be standout hits at the show, with visitors drawn in by their quick-to-learn mechanics and lively, interactive gameplay.
Take Cat is a lively card game in which players match cats and cleverly steal cards by one-upping their opponents. Designed for quick rounds and maximum fun, it’s ideal for gaming on the go.
Originally designed by Gareth Edwards, Take Cat features vibrant and engaging illustrations by Juliana Eigner, bringing each mischievous feline moment to life. The game’s energetic pace and cheeky mechanics captured the attention of players throughout UKGE.
Categories offers a relaxed yet engaging wordplay experience, combining categories and anagrams with a unique cat-themed spin. Players use letter tiles to create words that match the ever-changing category cards, leading to amusing combinations and creative thinking.
The game was originally designed by Jim Williams, with help from Iris Bierlein, Paul Campbell, and Richard Williams, and features distinctive, characterful artwork by Katie Abey.
The strong reception at UKGE reflects the growing appetite for inclusive, family-friendly tabletop experiences. Lauren Haywood-Law, game designer at Gibsons, commented: “Categories and Take Cat were an absolute hit at UKGE. With more and more families attending, it was fantastic to offer such fun and engaging games for everyone to enjoy. Categories sparked plenty of laughs with its hilarious combinations and creative justifications, while Take Cat, with its cheeky stealing, delivered fast-paced fun for players of all ages.”
