The Literary Gift Company launches new brand and trade website

The Literary Gift Company is rebranding its trade website to www.academicallygifted.co.uk to reflect the broad range of topics and curiosities that inspire its products.

The brand said the move “marks a new phase for us as we seek to work with even more wonderful independent gift shops, bookshops, libraries, museums, theatres, and galleries across the UK and beyond.

“The new website was created in response to calls from bookshops which wanted to stock products created for www.theliterarygiftcompany.com. As our sister site www.presentindicative.com came online, we began producing a growing range of unusual design-led products with an academic twist. Our new brand and website reflect this evolution.”

The Literary Gift Company website was launched in 2009 by Dani Hall: a former Waterstones manager who spotted a gap in the market for literature-related gifts. She created the company (at home, and in her spare time) with an initial self-funded investment of £1,500.

In 2010, she launched her first exclusive products including The Literary Map of Britain and a Go Away I’m Reading Mug.

A year later, The Literary Gift Company launched as a wholesale supplier to independent bookshops and gift shops. And in 2012, a spin-off website, the academically-themed www.presentindicative.com, was launched.

Five years later, The Literary Gift Company acquired Bookish Design UK – http://www.bookishdesign.co.uk/.

In 2019, the company incorporated, and changed the company name to Academically Gifted Ltd. The Literary Gift Company, Present Indicative and Bookish Design are all trading names of Academically Gifted Ltd.
