Yorkshire-based gift brand Clavis & Claustra has been named as a finalist in the Bricks and Clicks (best multi-channel small business) category of The Small Awards.
The Awards programme, now in its ninth year, is organised annually by Small Business Britain, which champions and supports the nation’s 5.5 million small firms through a series of reports, events and campaigns, including Small Business Saturday.
Clavis & Claustra was founded by Cat Crossley to create “apparel, stationery & gifts for rebels and troublemakers”. Pairing inspiration from women’s history with a cheeky sense of humour, the brand is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
“From t-shirts and tea towels to pocket notebooks and pin badges, we love to make beautiful items inspired by badass women in history”
Cat said: “From t-shirts and tea towels to pocket notebooks and pin badges, we love to make beautiful items inspired by badass women in history. We’re proudly stocked in amazing heritage sites such as castles and museums, and bookshops.
“It’s such an honour to be shortlisted for this national award in our 10th year in business! We love creating beautiful products for all our customers, from the hexy fans of witchcraft to the Mediaeval-loving maids of sterner stuff.”
Michelle Ovens CBE, founder of Small Business Britain, added: “Every year, the Small Awards celebrate the UK’s most inspiring small business owners, who are the heart of their communities and are fuelling the nation’s economic growth. The Awards are a great opportunity to recognise the success and contributions of so many small businesses. Clavis & Claustra is extremely deserving of being a finalist, and we look forward to celebrating together in May.”
Judged by a panel of industry experts, the winners of all categories, including the overall winner of the Small Business of the Year award, will be announced at a London awards ceremony at St Mary’s Church in Marylebone on May 22.
