A team from Surrey-based retail chain and wholesaler Gift Universe has completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, raising more than £10,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.
Over the weekend of May 16 and May 17, the team took on the UK’s three highest mountains – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon – and completed the challenge in 26 hours and 2 minutes, significantly ahead of the typical average completion time of around 31 hours.
The challenge saw colleagues push through relentless physical and mental demands across more than 23 miles of hiking and approximately 3,000 metres of ascent.
The fundraising effort received widespread backing from colleagues across the business, helping the team raise over £10,000 for Alzheimer’s Society. Gift Universe also covered all entry costs associated with the challenge, ensuring every penny raised goes directly to the charity.
Reflecting on the experience, Gift Universe managing director Gary Wakeman said: “This was one of the toughest things many of us have ever done, both physically and mentally, but I couldn’t be prouder of the team. The conditions were incredibly challenging at times, with heavy rain, poor visibility, and difficult terrain, yet everyone kept pushing each other forward with real determination, humour, and team spirit.
“What made the experience so special was seeing colleagues from across the business come together and support one another every step of the way. To complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in just over 26 hours whilst raising vital funds for charity is an outstanding achievement, and everyone involved should be incredibly proud.”
